Inspired by Dion Hinchcliffe's post on emerging technologies for enterprise social computing, I wanted to give you a quick wrap up of his original
post earlier this year.
Below framework gives you by the way a visual mapping of the mentioned technologies:
- Community management tools.
- Open identity.
- Microblogging.
- Social CRM.
- Enterprise platforms gaining a social layer.
- Activity streams.
- Social search, analytics, and filtering.
- Enterprise social media workflow.
- Automated compliance monitoring.
- Next-generation unified communication.
Now that I am in the process of setting up a competence center on web/enterprise 2.0 and unified communications, I am curious to see how the next-gen unified communications will evolve. I must admit that the product we are currently deploying (Microsoft OCS) already promises a lot of functionality in this field, but we are still far from a holistic and fully integrated solution in this domain.
